The article, published in the journal Drug Testing and Analysis is titled ‘Analysis of dextromethorphan and dextrorphan in decomposed skeletal tissues by microwave assisted extraction, microplate solid-phase extraction and gas chromatography – mass-spectrometry (MAE-MPSPE-GSMS)’, DOI: 10.1002/dta.1754.

Dextromethorphan is an antitussive compound that has abuse potential; dextrorphan is its primary metabolite.  Investigators were studying the recovery of these compounds from skeletal tissue following microwave assisted extraction.  UCT’s CLEAN SCREEN XCEL® I sorbent was used to clean up the sample extracts prior to GC-MS analysis.   The method showed excellent analyte recovery, linearity and sensitivity.
